Hi, My name is Tekla Seavey.
I will be working as an intern/assistant guide.
Seward has been home for most of my life. My three brothers and I spent most of our early years out in the woods, or aboard our dads commercial salmon fishing boat in Prince William Sound. My brothers, as well as my husband, now own their own fishing boats. Longing for a different form of employment I traveled to Haines, AK, last summer where I took a semester of courses with International Wilderness Leadership School. We camped out and learned about climbing, hiking, glaciers, and sea kayaking- I was hooked! I am excited to have a job here in Seward with such a great company as Exit Glacier Guides.
Yes, I married into the Seavey dog mushing family. My husband Tyrell, and I do not have any dogs however (I do have 10 goldfish for the summer) due to our wandering lifestyle. Seasonal salmon fishing allows us to travel nearly every winter. Our honeymoon involved living in the back of our truck for 3 months and driving through all connected 48 states. We haven't stopped traveling since.
I love being outdoors and I am looking forward to this summer!
