We've been offering this trip for over 20 years. Come see Why this is one of Alaska's favorite Active Adventures
Exit Glacier Ice Hiking
This full-day adventure is made for travelers who love a challenge with a big reward. We’ll start on a well-maintained national park trail and hike about two hours up to the glacier, gaining 1,400 feet in elevation before descending roughly 300 feet down to the ice. Along the way, your guide will share stories of the landscape, local plants, and glacial history—and you might even spot Alaskan wildlife like bears, mountain goats, and marmots.
Once on the glacier, we gear up with crampons, harnesses, and helmets to safely explore the ice’s ever-changing surface. Together we’ll navigate rolling blue ice, peek into deep crevasses, and discover meltwater streams and ice formations found nowhere else. Every trip is unique, shaped by the glacier’s constant transformation.
After exploring the glacier’s stunning surface, we’ll climb back up to rejoin the trail and descend to the valley below. It’s a steady, active day in Alaska’s great outdoors—challenging enough to feel accomplished, but accessible for anyone ready for adventure.
